The UCM Apprenticeship

* Has God impacted your life through campus ministry? * Do you want to see others impacted in the same way?

The UCM Apprenticeship is a 10 mos. - 2 year hands-on training program that equips university grads in vocational full-time campus ministry. If you look at Jesus' relationship with his disciples, you'l notice that he trained them simply by being with them. At UCM we believe that the best pastoral training happens in an apprenticeship model -- where formal instruction is combined with informal training from those with experience.

UCM Apprentices will work alongside experienced and knowledgeable campus missionaries who intentionally help them to learn in the midst of ministry. The UCM Apprenticeship cultivates your ministry skills (hands), theological understanding (head), and spiritual formation (heart).

Hands:  UCM Apprentices will have many opportunities to do the work of campus ministry, and will have opportunities to teach from the Scripture. UCM Apprentices will learn how to lead small groups, disciple students, engage evangelistically with the campus, lead outreach teams, lead worship, develop preaching skills, lead mission trips, develop a financial support team, and much more. Each will be trained in administration, time management, and leadership development, to name but a few during the apprenticeship.

Head:  With regard to intellectual development, the goal is to concentrate on establishing firm theological foundations.  Through a directed course of study, the apprentice will be exposed to study skills and knowledge needed to pursue a life-long development of their intellect. UCM Apprentices will receive theological training contextualized for the university campus. Academic courses offered through the UCM apprenticeship are accredited through either ACTS Seminary or Summit Pacific Bible College, and will enable apprentices to move towards receiving a pastoral credential through the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.

Heart: The UCM Apprenticeship takes the spiritual and character formation of their apprentices very seriously. Apprentices meet with a pastoral supervisor on a weekly basis, leaving ample room for personal discovery and transformation. We believe that the transformation of the inner person is essential for a vital, long term life in ministry.
